From the Parent Coordinator

PCDear 256 Families,

Welcome to the 2022-20323 school year. I would like to officially introduce myself. I am Danielle Barker, your new Parent Coordinator for 256 families. I though I’d share a little information about myself to you. This is my first year as Parent coordinator, but I have been with apart of 256 for 3 years. I previously was the PTA secretary and as well as a member of the SLT board. Prior to becoming parent coordinator, I worked in the NYC shelter system. I also served 4 years in the US NAVY. I am also a current member of the Queens civic engagement board and an advocate of the rights for people with disabilities.

Like you, I am a proud parent of a 256 student. My son is currently in second grade and is 7 years old. Like may of you, I deal with the challenges that come along with having a child with special needs. I want to ensure you that as Parent coordinator, we can face these challenges together. My top priority is Our children and making sure that they have a successful school year and beyond. But I know that our children cannot succeed without us in their corner. We are their biggest cheerleaders and I want to be the cheerleader for you, the parents. So please do not be afraid to reach out tome if you have any questions, concerns or help with anything that may benefit your child as well as you. I can be reached at (718)734-3240 ext. 1975 and dbarker5@schools.nyc.gov.

Again, I welcome you to the school year and I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you.

With Sincerity,

Danielle Barker
